CEP’S MONTHLY DIGEST

A monthly newsletter with updates about the activities of the Centre for European Perspective.

April 2026

Hello Reader,

welcome to the April edition of the CEP monthly newsletter!

This month, we are pleased to announce that applications for Young BSF are now open, and we are currently looking for a new team member to join our office. In addition to two other active open calls, this issue features a recap of our March activities—including the HEAT training—and a look at the projects we have planned for the coming months.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Young BSF 2026 announced

The Young Bled Strategic Forum 2026 will explore agency and resilience in a fragmented world following a rupture in the international order.

Our aim is to reflect on how individuals, institutions and societies interpret disruption and how these interpretations shape their ability to act. By examining history, the principles worth defending, and the space for meaningful agency, Young BSF 2026 seeks to better understand how young leaders can navigate uncertainty and help shape the future.

Applications now open

The Young Bled Strategic Forum participants are promising, curious and proactive young professionals aged 18–35. They are leaders and practitioners in the broadly defined field of world politics, with overlapping educational backgrounds, professional interests and career paths. They are young people driven by a commitment to creating a positive impact.

Deadline for applications is 19 April.

CEP'S UPCOMING ACTIVITIES IN APRIL

Project Management Workshop and Official Opening of Phase II of the project in North Macedonia

📅 20–24 April 2026 📍Skopje, North Macedonia

The CEP project team will gather in Skopje for the Official Opening and Project Management Workshop, marking a key milestone in the second phase of the project “Strengthening education and professional regulation in nursing and midwifery in North Macedonia (2026–2028).”

Over five days, CEP experts and partner institutions will engage in a series of working sessions focused on project management, strategic communication, and implementation planning. The programme also includes meetings with key international stakeholders such as WHO, UNICEF, and UNFPA, as well as a formal opening event bringing together high-level representatives.

ABOUT LAST MONTH

EUTI Partner Meeting

📅 3–4 March 2026 📍Grad Jable, Slovenia

32 representatives from 14 EUTI partner organisations gathered at Jable Castle to map and plan the next phases of the project.

Key discussions focused on analyzing the current training requirements of civilian missions on the ground, exploring the benefits of new technologies, and determining how to effectively integrate AI into the training sector.

HEAT

📅 8–13 March, 2026 📍Gotenica, Slovenia

For the POTC Team, March was dedicated to delivering the Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT). 20 participants tackled topics such as threat awareness, threat management, medical response, orientation, communication, mobility, and deployment in hostile environments.

All the newfound skills were then put to the test in a whole-day simulation. The training was demanding but overall a success, which could not have been possible without the dedication, professionalism, and energy of the Slovenian and international trainers who guided participants through demanding and realistic scenarios and our institutional partner for this training, the ESDC.

EUTI Training: ToT for Human Rights Advisors

📅 23–25 March 2026📍Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa, Italy

Ten Human Rights Advisors from CSDP missions and Brussels attended a EUTI Training of Trainers organised by Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna to bridge the gap between policy and practical application. Key sessions focused on strengthening participants' roles as mission-level trainers, exploring the "how-to" of mainstreaming, and providing an agile toolkit to effectively integrate a human rights-based approach into daily operations.
