EUTI Paper on using Artificial Intelligence in Civilian CSDP
Within the framework of the EUTI, a new research paper has been published exploring the opportunities, structural risks, and regulatory implications of embedding Artificial Intelligence into EU Civilian Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) missions.
The paper aims to contribute to ongoing discussions surrounding the responsible, effective, and human rights-compliant use of AI in civilian crisis management. Additionally, it offers practical tips on integrating AI tools into training methodologies.

Countdown to Bled Strategic Forum 2026
Bled Strategic Forum, the leading international conference in Central and South-Eastern Europe, is annually co-organised by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia and us, the Centre for European Perspective.
The 21st Bled Strategic Forum International Conference will take place under the title "The Power to Shape the Future" on 31 August and 1 September 2026.

HEAT Call for Applications is Ongoing - Apply Now!
📅 27 September – 2 October 2026 📍Gotenica, Slovenia
POTC and the European Security and Defence College are once again teaming up to deliver a Hostile Environment Awareness Training in Gotenica, Slovenia.
This training contributes to the security and situational awareness of its participants, it also reinforces a safety and security awareness mindset, and develops confidence in hostile situations. We are looking for 20 professionals with different backgrounds, working or aiming to work with national or international (non-)governmental organisations, the academic or private sector.
Applications for the training are open until August 10th.

Study Visit on Sustainable Housing Solutions for Ukraine
📅 6–10 July 2026 📍Ljubljana, Bled, Celje
CEP is organizing a five-day study visit for representatives of Ukrainian municipalities and housing experts to explore Slovenian models for sustainable and affordable housing.
Through expert presentations, site visits, and interactive workshops in Ljubljana, Bled and Celje, participants will exchange knowledge on housing policy, post-crisis reconstruction, and community-led development, supporting Ukraine's efforts to address housing challenges and strengthen local resilience.

Visit of Ukrainian Children to Slovenia
📅 6–12 July 2026 📍Celje, Slovenia
📅 13–19 July 2026 📍Kočevje, Slovenia
CEP, in cooperation with the Municipality of Celje and the Municipality of Kočevje, is organizing the visit of two groups of Ukrainian children, who will spend a week in Slovenia.
Kočevje will host children from its partner municipality of Bucha, while Celje will welcome another group of 20 children whose lives have been profoundly affected by the war.
The programme aims to provide the children with a safe and welcoming environment, opportunities for recreation and cultural exchange, and a chance to enjoy a carefree week away from the challenges of everyday life.

Personal Security Training for Diplomatic Personnel
📅 3 June 📍Grad Jable, Slovenia
In cooperation with the Security Planning Division of the Security, Real Estate and Logistics Service of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, POTC successfully conducted the Personal Security Training for diplomatic personnel. Participants were introduced to security and health preparations prior to deployment, security of diplomatic missions and personal security, security risk assessment, and procedures for dealing with changing security situations, including relocation and evacuation.

Successful conclusion of cluster visit from Ukraine on Economic development
📅 28 May – 5 June 📍Slovenia
The cluster visit on the topic of local economic development was concluded after a comprehensive 9-day programme. The delegation of local and regional representatives from Ukraine visited Ljubljana, and the Koroška and Štajerska regions, where they visited local businesses, public companies and met with key Slovenian actors in local development.

1st Regional Roundtable on UN Peace Operations held in Slovenia
📅 9 June 📍Grad Jable, Slovenia
“The First Central, Eastern Europe and the Balkans Roundtable on UN Peace Operations: Regional Perspectives on Strengthening Support and Advancing the Role of Training Centres” was the first meeting of its kind in the region. The event followed the 2025 UN Peacekeeping Ministerial in Berlin and recent mission developments, including the upcoming closure of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) at the end of 2026.
As such the event provided a timely platform to reflect on future priorities and lessons learned. Peace operations remain one of the most important tools of the international community for conflict prevention, the protection of civilians, and post-conflict stabilisation, but require continuous adaptation.

Bled Strategic Forum Conversation with Ambassador (ret.) Michael R. Carpenter

Organised in cooperation with Trivelis Insitute and MFEA of Slovenia, conversation with Ambassador (ret.) Michael R. Carpenter adressed the interconnectedness of Europe and the US, their shared political interests, and their growing strategic differences that are raising questions about the future direction of the transatlantic relationship.

European Digital Diplomacy Exchange Workshop Held in Albania
📅 9–12 June 📍 Durrës, Albania
More than 50 participants and speakers from 20 countries joined the EDDE workshop “Centering Citizens in a Secure Digital Society” to explore citizen-centred digital communication, public trust, information sovereignty, and resilience against foreign information manipulation.
Through lectures, discussions, and practical exercises, participants strengthened skills in policy storytelling, audience analysis, multimedia planning, emerging AI tools, and strategic communications as a national security asset.

EUTI Training: EU Human Rights and Due Diligence Policy (HRDDP)
📅 8–10 June 📍 Brussels, Belgium
Egmont Institute in the scope of EUTI held a 3-day tranining where the participants learned to: identify and categorize diverse types of risks (including potential adverse human rights impacts, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, violations of International Humanitarian Law, and other legal, political, or reputational risks) and identify and assess various types and levels of risks in relation to missions’ mandates, operational activities, and partners.

Global starts Local: Workshops about raising awareness on international development cooperation

In cooperation with Zavod Povod, we organized interactive workshops for 9th-grade primary school students aimed at raising awareness about the importance of international development cooperation and global solidarity. Through practical examples and group activities, students learned about Slovenia’s role in supporting Ukraine and the importance of active citizenship. The pilot execution of the workshops took place in Spodnja Idrija primary school and Lenart primary school. More information

Kick-Off Networking Meeting: Building Trust - A Media Literacy Initiative
📅 19 June
Representatives from across the Danube Region and beyond gathered for an online meeting of a new media literacy initiative under the EU Strategy for the Danube Region. Participants highlighted the need for closer cooperation, regular exchange and greater visibility of existing initiatives. The initiative will now develop as an open networking platform supporting knowledge sharing and collaboration in the field of media literacy.

In its latest podcast, the Trivelis Institute brings together leading international experts to explore how hybrid threats and artificial intelligence are reshaping the security of democratic societies. Martha Turnbull (Hybrid CoE), Michael Zinkanell (AIES) and Katja Geršak (Trivelis Institute) discuss the evolving threat landscape and the steps governments, businesses and citizens can take to strengthen resilience.
The Trivelis Institute is among the first in Slovenia to explore the emerging Defence, Security and Resilience Bank (DSRB) and its potential implications for security, industry and technological development. Through an exclusive interview with Brigadier Robbie Boyd OBE, a member of the DSRB development team, and an in-depth expert analysis, Trivelis Institute examines how this proposed multilateral financial institution could reshape European financing for security, innovation and resilience.
