We are co-organising the First Central, Eastern Europe and the Balkans Roundtable on UN Peace Operations: Regional Perspectives on Strengthening Support and Advancing the Role of Training Centres – a high-level senior officials intergovernmental event focused on the future of regional engagement in United Nations peace operations.
The aim of the Regional Roundtable on UN Peace Operations is to provide a platform for policy dialogue on future regional engagement in UN peace operations, the evolving role and sustainability of regional peacekeeping training centres, and opportunities for strengthened regional cooperation and coordinated support beyond personnel contributions. The event will bring together representatives of participating Member States, regional training centres, United Nations entities, and partner institutions.

The EUTI is launching a newsletter for all interested in trainings for international crisis management and peace support missions. ! (We at CEP act as the secretariat that coordinates 15 European inistitutions)
The newsletter will include updates on upcoming and developing trainings as well as a short brief on what EUTI has been doing lately.
The European Union Training Initiative (EUTI) is an EU-funded three-year project that helps prepare civilian, police and gendarmerie personnel for work in international crisis management and peace support missions.
Implemented by a consortium of European partners, it provides tailored, need-based training before and during deployment, while also supporting EU institutions and Member States through work on training standards, certification and innovation.Subscribe here

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS OPEN: Law, Policy and Science in Environmental Peacebuilding Training

We are pleased to announce that the 2026 edition of the highly sought-after training programme is returning to Slovenia.
POTC and the Geneva Water Hub are once again joining forces to deliver the joint training, which offers an in-depth exploration of how natural resources influence conflict dynamics and peace processes, covering essential legal frameworks, emerging challenges, and strategic solutions.

Expert Forum by Trivelis Institute: Blurred Lines: Security in the Age of Hybrid Threats

Hybrid threats are becoming a defining feature of today’s security environment, requiring new approaches to preparedness and resilience. On May 18, 2026, the Trivelis Institute will host an expert discussion on evolving threats, key vulnerabilities, and responses.

Upcoming mentorship visit: Horodenka Municipality and Beltinci Municipality
📅 13–27 May 2026 📍Beltinci, Slovenia
We are preparing for an upcoming two-week mentorship visit under the Recovery and Reconstruction in Ukraine programme.
Representatives from Horodenka (Ukraine) will join mentors from Beltinci to exchange knowledge and good practices in waste management, including separate collection, recycling, and sustainable solutions. Additional topics will cover public utilities and rehabilitation.

CEP will host a cluster visit from Ukraine on local economic development
📅 May and June 2026📍Slovenia
CEP, in cooperation with the Ministry for Cohesion and Regional Development of the Republic of Slovenia, will host a cluster visit of Ukrainian representatives of municipalities, regional development agencies, and other key stakeholders.
The programme will highlight Slovenia’s approach to empowering municipalities to drive economic development, combining national and regional policy insights with practical tools for supporting entrepreneurship. Participants will also have the opportunity to exchange good practices and share their own experiences, fostering mutual learning and collaboration.

POTC: Humanoid Robots in the Armed Forces: the Newest Edition of the Disruptive Military Technologies and Practices Seminar
📅May 26 2026📍Jable Castle, Slovenia
The rapid development of humanoid robots, a specific segment of autonomous systems, undoubtedly brings new challenges to society at large and consequently also to armed forces around the world.
At this year's disruptive military technologies seminar, guest experts will outline the current state of humanoid robot development, discuss the reasons for their use in armed forces, familiarise participants with the technical challenges of their development, and address ethical issues related to their future use.

Strengthening the Role of Nurses and Midwives in North Macedonia
📅 20–23 April 2026 📍Skopje, North Macedonia
Our team organnised a workshop on project management and communication in Skopje, aimed at strengthening the capacities of key stakeholders in the health and education sectors. The workshop focused on effective implementation of capacity-building projects and addressing systemic gaps.
Participants from the ministries of health and education engaged in discussions on improving the education system for nurses and midwives, as well as establishing a comprehensive regulatory framework for these professions. The activities also contributed to defining the next phase of the project (2026–2028), building on achieved results.
